This weekend, thoughts move back to the Barclays Premier League and Manchester United are back at Old Trafford, against Southampton in Sunday afternoons 4pm GMT kick-off. Looking ahead, United Ramble look at the predicted XI that Louis van Gaal may put out.
The week had not started off with the best of news, as Rafael Da Silva had a night in a hospital down in Somerset after suffering a fractured cheekbone during Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Yeovil Town in the FA Cup. Louis van Gaal is hoping that the injury will not keep him out of action for to long, and he could recover while playing in a protective mask. The Southampton match might be a tad too soon for the Brazilian defender, and with Antonio Valencia back in training, he will take up the wing-back roll in the 3-5-2 this week.
One the other side of the park, Luke Shaw is to face his former club. Shaw picked up a small ankle knock against Yeovil Town but is expected to be back for this weekends fixture. Right, that is the wing backs sorted, looking to who they will play along with in the midfield we start with man-of-the-match winner last weekend, Ander Herrera. It is great that Herrera is back for Manchester United, bringing composure and agility going back and a force of attack when deemed it well to press, playing alongside him we’ve gone for Michael Carrick with Angel Di Maria on the other side after recovering from injury and scoring against Yeovil Town. It is great to have Di Maria back.
Manchester United and defence is two thing that have not really gone together this term, with mistake and lacklustre performances across the board. But, we feel that Louis van Gaal will go with Smalling, Evans and Jones this weekend, with of course David De Gea in net.
To finish off with this prediction, leading the Manchester United live up top we’ve gone with Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney with Radamel Falcao starting on the bench, hopefully coming on after the 60-minute mark if the fixture is going the way that Van Gaal and the fans would like.
