We are only a day away from Manchester United attempting to make it seven wins out of seven in the Barclays Premier League, as they face Aston Villa away at Villa Park in the 3pm GMT kick-off. United Ramble thus, look ahead to this fixture and put thoughts down to who Louis van Gaal might start, in his United xi ahead of his weekly press conference at the AoN Training Ground.
This week Manchester United’s Radamel Falcao has declared himself ‘almost 100%’ fit and hopes to get some more playing time, to move forward to a permanent contract, staying in Manchester and at Old Trafford. We predict that Falcao will be first on the team-sheet this Saturday, with James Wilson and Juan Mata moving to the bench.
Wayne Rooney, who has impressed for United of late, keeps his place up top alongside Radamel Falcao, playing slightly behind in the number 10 role, giving him the freedom to get back and help out in midfield if United are under the cosh of things against Villa, but looking at their latest form, this should be a standard three-point for Louis van Gaal’s men. Robin van Persie to start on the bench with the busy Christmas fixture period in mind.
If he has been training this week, then we expect Argentinean Player of the Year Angel Di Maria to walk into this team starting on the left-hand side of midfield, over in the three in the centre of the park then Ander Herrera gets the nod for us with Michael Carrick playing just behind in the hole, thus able to help out the defence if needed.
Moving toward the back, even if Rafael Da Silva and Luke Shaw are close to coming back into the first-team for United, we think Louis van Gaal will continue with Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia as wing backs.
In the back three, we’ve gone for Jonny Evans, despite a few mistakes last week against Liverpool, with Phil Jones and Paddy McNair.
There is only one name for United between the sticks of course, David De Gea.
