Manchester United have lifted their first silverware of the season, after the under-17s beat Vendee in the final of the Dale Farm Milk Cup over in Northern Ireland.
United won the final 1-0 with the only goal coming from Borthwick-Jackson, a fully deserved win after the young reds from Manchester created a number of chances through-out the match.
Manchester United youth coach Paul McGuinness had this to say after the final victory:
“It was a tired performance from both teams
“It was the end of a long week and it’s hard to get a lot of energy going. They sat back and we gave a lot of balls away without disguising our passes.
“We had one or two moments, it was a great free-kick that hit the bar, but we weren’t really at our best tonight. The goal was a really good one, I thought, so we’re pleased to win it with not our best performance.”
