Manchester United have announced initial details about the clubs travelling squad for the upcoming tour of the United States. The squad are scheduled to depart on the 18th of July and the club have confirmed that new manager Louis Van Gaal will be part of the tour from the start. Van Gaal will be joining the squad just five days after his involvement in the world cup
Shinji Kagawa, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, David De Gea, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones look set to join the squad from day one along with other first team players and new signings Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw. No announcements have yet been made regarding Patrice Evra, Mourane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj. It is likely that they will join up with the squad on a later date. One player who will definetely not be involved is Robin Van Persie as his involvement at the world cup will end on the 12th of July at the earliest.
United’s first game against LA galaxy on the 23rd of July would be Louis Van Gaal’s first match in charge of the side and would also be an opportunity to see the new signings in action for the first time. The Final tour squad will only be confirmed on the day of departure and many of the club’s youngsters could find themselves in the squad. Last years tour saw the likes of Zaha, Lingard and Januzaj give good performances and this year could be a chance for players such as James Wilson, Ben Pearson and Saidy Janko to step up. The tour also gives Louis Van Gaal the opportunity to asses his squad and the youngsters at the club.

If United make the final of the competition, the pre-season tour will conclude with the final in Miami on Monday 4 August.
