Tom Cleverley certainly is not a fans favourite at Manchester United to say the least, but the United scapegoat could be on the way out of Old Trafford this summer as Roberto Martinez and Everton are reportedly set to launch a £8million bid for the midfielder.
As Manchester United secure the signing on Ander Herrera and also look to bring in another midfielder this summer, Tom Cleverley’s first-team place seems to have been lost. With Michael Carrick and even the likes of Darren Fletcher likely to be ahead of him in Louis van Gaal’s plans in squad rotations, maybe it is time for Cleverley to move on, with Everton the perfect match.
The attraction of Everton being in UEFA’s Europa League next season will also be a big attraction for Cleverley, who no doubt would rather be playing first-team football rather than sitting on the bench, even if he makes that, at Manchester United.
The 24-year-old was on stand-by for England’s World Cup squad, but has spent most of the summer on holiday were he got engaged to girlfriend in the meantime. After making 35 appearances for Manchester United last season he could move to Goodison Park for a fee in the region of £8million.
