Some good news for Manchester United going into this weekend’s fixture against Everton at Goodison Park, both Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini are available for selection to play against their former club, yet Rafael Da Silva, Jonny Evans and Robin van Persie are still unavailable for selection.
After a less that satisfactory performance against FC Bayern Munich away in the UEFA Champions League, Wayne Rooney has declared to David Moyes that he is fit and raring to go after recovering from a toe injury. Marouane Fellaini missed Manchester United’s trip to Germany, but has returned to the fold and both Rooney and Fellaini have had five-days of full first team training since returning for the squads weekend break.
During David Moyes’ weekly press conference at the AoN training ground on Friday, the reds boss said:
“Rooney trained great this week and has been in really good form. We’re hopefully getting him back as he wasn’t quite right with his toe at times. He’s trained great though”
“Felli didn’t play against Bayern but we expect him back fit because he has trained all week. Evans is making progress but Rafa is the one player not available.”
David Moyes also commented on the recovery of Robin van Persie, stating that the Netherlands striker is continuing to receive treatment over in Holland. He added:
“Robin is in Holland and improving but we always thought it would be four to six weeks”
“We’ll have a better assessment in the next week or so. Our medical team is heading out there to see him this week to get a better feel as to exactly where he is.”
Manchester United face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday in the afternoon kick-off, with many of the cameras on the former Everton boss David Moyes returning for the first time since leaving.
